Making time to think about short and long term career paths and goals is an essential but often overlooked part of every attorney’s professional journey. I believe we achieve the best results for our candidates when we begin working together early in their careers. By engaging with candidates before the pressure to make a move or a significant career decision mounts, we can help find the right opportunities and ensure that they feel confident about their options.

David Eklund is an Associate Director of Momentum Search Group.

David started his career as an intellectual property associate at Alston & Bird in New York. David’s practice included patent litigation, tech transactions, copyright, trademark, entertainment and sports law. After his time at Alston, David co-founded a medical services start-up before returning to full time legal practice and using his start-up as a pivot to working in the Emerging Companies and Venture Capital group at Foley Hoag. David then served as Associate General Counsel for Complex Transactions and Intellectual Property at the fintech company DailyPay, Inc.

David’s atypical experience pivoting from litigation to transactional work mid-career in addition to his two decades of experience working in law firms and in-house gives him a unique perspective on potential career paths and an appreciation for the different experiences a particular candidate brings to their work and their job search.

David is a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.A. History), received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law, and obtained an L.L.M. from Cornell University’s Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship program at Cornell Tech.

David is an avid Michigan football fan and lives in Westchester with his wife, two kids, and his dog and cat.
